The featherweight-yet-solidly robust, full titanium design also riffs on the unmistakable “International Style” of legendary architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, whose work notably combined the pleasing curves of Art Nouveau with the clean lines of modernism. That inspiration can be seen most clearly in the perfectly engineered corners of the Artemis, which finesse the transition from front to temple in a bold architectural manner and help to highlight the sleekly powerful solution of Akoni Eyewear’s one-of-a-kind hinge. Artemis’s pared-down nose bridge reflects Mallet-Stevens’ rational mindset, while strong, tactile lines adorning the rims channel his mastery of using a minimum of embellishment for a maximum of effect.
