Conceived out of friendship and crafted by a mutual passion for great design, Black Optical is proud to present its first collaboration with Ahlem Eyewear.

This collection features three limited edition styles with solid black frames accented by a certified 18 karat gold mirror.

So we had these one-of-a-kind frames, but now we needed something worth holding them.

When approached by Gary Black about making a collaboration case with Ahlem I was honored, excited, and somewhat nervous.

After several meetings with Gary we agreed the cases should represent Ahlem’s favorite color, International Klein Blue, which was first mixed by the French artist Yves Klein. Then, to incorporate a little Black Optical flair, we chose to sew in a black micro-fiber cleaning cloth.

Leather is, and has always been, the perfect material for protecting eyewear. This second skin was sourced locally from Oklahoma, and  is the perfect shade of blue. The buttery texture made it rather easy to manipulate into our functional design. There is one piece of leather hand-cut with precision, folded over, and stitched to one side. The convenient flap provides a cleaning cloth sewn in so the wearer can clean their favorite frames in a pinch. There are also two compartments to keep multiple pairs of glasses all with a hidden magnetic closure.

Each case is unique in its own right. The handmade construction gives the cases a distinct one-of-a-kind appearance worthy of the impeccable frame construction.

From sourcing to sewing this project sparked a fire within to jump start my creative juices.  I appreciate the opportunity to work with such talented people and contribute to the success of Black Optical.
