Happy 80th!
Steve McQueen, the man who made Persol sunglasses cool, turns 80 today.

My favorite tie company, Band Of Outsiders, featured Persol sunglasses in their Summer Lookbook. The shirt/tie/hat-combo is a little nautical for my taste, but the sunglasses are a great choice.
American Music Awards
Three of my favorite sunglasses were spotted on the red-carpet at the American Music Awards. Jamie Fox is wearing Chrome Hearts ‘Throb’, Ne-Yo in Dita ‘Grandmaster Two’, & Chris Brown in Persol ’714′ (the foldable version of 649).

Meanwhile, during another show for Rag & Bone, the iconic Persol 649 was heavily featured on both men and women.

The ultra-mod sunglasses feature in the actual show are pretty hip too. They look like a Prada that arrived over the summer.
On the street – Persol 649
One of my favorite sunglasses, Persol 649, was created for Steve McQueen a few decades ago. I’m starting to notice a surge in popularity of this style. On thesartorialist.blogspot.com I noticed 5 people in the last month wearing this style. Evident in the photos below, it looks great on women & men, young or older.
